Education Infrastructure

Qudra in Jordan seeks to increase access to good quality education services for Syrian and Jordanian students by fully rehabilitating 16 public schools, providing 20 schools with sanitary facilities and 15 schools with facilities for extra-curricular activities (e.g. sports and playgrounds).

Qudra also works with schools to develop transportation services for vulnerable children, especially girls, orphans and students with special needs. The overall aim is to provide non-discriminatory access to transport for both Jordanian and Syrian (refugee) children in a sustainable and cost-effective manner.

In addition, Qudra offers capacity development training for staff in school facility management and in the provision of extracurricular activities. An activity book and an associated toolbox that focus on sports, arts and culture, science and environment and WASH and hygiene are developed.

Qudra in Lebanon seeks to increase access to good quality education services for Syrian and Lebanese students by rehabilitating 10 public schools, providing 5 schools with facilities for extra-curricular activities (e.g. sports, playgrounds,) and offering capacity development for teaching staff, parents and community workers. Sub-modules on how to use extra-curricular activities to develop social and personal competences are also being developed.

Among the infrastructure improvements are physical improvements such as building safety, creating access for people with special needs, and installing washrooms. School facilities (e.g. sports facilities, playgrounds, laboratories, theatres) are being upgraded, and new sports teachers, social workers and/or volunteers are trained to offer extra-curricular activities for students, teachers and host communities.

Furthermore, as in Jordan, Qudra offers capacity development for staff in school facility management and in the provision of extracurricular activities.

Qudra in Turkey seeks to increase access to good quality education services for members of the host communities and Syrian refugees in the country.

The initiatives focus on rehabilitation of state schools with a special focus on providing access for all children, particularly children with special needs. Furthermore, certified language courses are to be offered in order to strengthen the Turkish language skills of Syrian teachers. Another emphasis is on the provision of quality extra-curricular activities in the fields of culture and sports for Syrian and Turkish students at state schools.
